ABOUT SAM
Sam Rosenberg is an L.A.-born-and-based screenwriter, freelance critic, and pop culture obsessive. He has written a half-hour comedy pilot, two spec scripts, four feature scripts, reviews on TV, film, and music, interviews with filmmakers, actors, and musicians, and long-form essays on gender, disability, Jewish identity, mental health, and Internet culture. He has also written, directed, and produced a web series (Wishy Washy) and two animated documentary shorts (Dreaming in Isolation and Gender in Isolation).
Growing up in the entertainment capital of the world, Sam developed a fervent love for film & television at an early age, often journaling ideas for potential screenplays in notebooks that he still carries with him to this day. In high school, he synthesized his passion for writing and pop culture in a review blog and later joined the school newspaper as a writer and editor.
Sam continued to pursue writing and expand his horizons at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), where he majored in English and film, television, & media with a concentration in screenwriting. At Michigan, he published over 120 articles while serving as a TV beat writer and senior arts editor for The Michigan Daily. He also wrote, directed, and produced several short films and participated in the New England Literature Program, a six-week-long academic retreat in the woods of New Hampshire, without any access to technology and social media. (Thankfully, he survived).
In addition to writing, Sam has extensive experience in other areas of the entertainment industry, having interned at
Sight Unseen, The Wrap, and The Rogue Initiative and assisted on various film and television productions such as Bob Hearts Abishola, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and The Fabelmans. He has taken courses in sketch comedy and storytelling at Upright Citizen's Brigade as well.
Since graduating in 2019, his writing has appeared in The Los Angeles Times, Consequence, The Daily Beast, Paste, Metacritic, Alt Press, Hey Alma, and Film Cred. He has also contributed scripts to Parcast, edited and transcribed episodes of Art of the Cut, and written audio descriptions for The Sopranos and The Wire. Currently, he is attending The American Film Institute as a Screenwriting fellow. Sam is genderqueer/non-binary and uses they/he pronouns.
